If you haven't already done it, go over to Chromeballincident and check out todays post on the one and only Kelly Bird. The first time I ever saw Bird, was at a skate park near Toronto called Rudy's, we had our share of local pro's with Weiss and Bokma, but something about Kelly scared the hell out of me. The way he would skate was pretty intimidating, and he wasn't the friendliest dude back then either. I would always make sure not to get in his way and most times not even skate in the same area, but I would always watch cause he killed it. Fast forward many years and I end up working with him through Lakai but never really forgot those days at Rudy's when he was that prototypical 90's pro with a sweet EMB attitude of hating. Bird does a sweet job over at Lakai, just wouldn't be the same without him. Thanks Bird!

OK, Wino's or DVS Doughboys are now super popular because Supreme and Huf have just dropped their own versions. Which is amazing because these shoes are the perfect summer shoe and both Huf and Supreme are amazing!! One small issue I'd like raise is, DVS has actually had this shoe in the line forever. That's right! DVS is so far ahead of the trends that sneaker geeks bite them. No seriously!

Do you know what it's like to have countless drink tickets in your pocket at a bar? It's great, you're everybody's friend and you never have an empty glass! The only downside is it's hard to remember what happened when you wake up the next day and you could end up sleeping fully clothed on an uncomfortable couch using random clothes as a blanket. And to top it off you could wake up in the morning and realize that there was a pillow and a blanket laying right next to you and the uncomfortable couch actually folded out in to a bed. Not that I know what that's like or anything.

This past Saturday at Tommy Africas, DVS and Matix hosted a killer party for the fine folks from West 49. It was full of great people, great music, and great times. Oh yea, and drink tickets! Thanks to everybody that was involved!! Take a look at some of the pics from the night.....

I was thinking about differences from the Canucks team going into the 2nd round of the playoffs tonight and another Canucks team in 2003 that we had the same high hopes for. The biggest change has to be between the pipes. Though Dan Cloutier isn't my favourite goalie of all time nor somebody I would want to rely on in any kind of playoff situation, I have to admit the guy can throw a punch. This has got to be one of my all time favourite hockey fights.

Canucks Wins and NBA Playoffs Start on Saturday!

Last night the Canucks generously gave out hand towels and the fans went insane waving them! It was pretty cool to see the fans having such a good time, but slightly annoying getting whipped in the face by the people sitting around me that lacked the arm control to keep their towel in their own space. Overall, last nights game was hands down the best game of the playoffs.

Tick was there with his faimly and he was having a REALLY GOOD time. I'm pretty sure he wacked back about 10 beers over 3 periods. The only person having more fun than Tick was his brother, who got kicked out of the game for attempting to smuggle in a flask of Whiskey.

For those of you that didn't know the NBA Playoffs start on Saturday and for some of you it may be a difficult concept to wrap your head around, but it is possible to like Basketball and Hockey. I personally love the NBA and NHL. Maybe that makes me a forward thinker because most sports fan don't have the mental capacity to enjoy two sports. For you 1 track hockey fans, check out this video and expand your world.

I was watching T.V last night and all the sports shows were doing Stanley cup playoff previews. So I thought I would share.

The TSN monkey spun the wheel and Canucks came up winners against the Blues !!!

Looks like the Hockey central playoff panel all predict a Canucks win against the Blues as well.

My favorite Canucks older timer even predict the Canucks win the cup over the Bruins. Lets hope hes right !!

Sticker Request

One of the important functions of a distributor is to give out stickers and how it usually goes down is people email us and we send them stickers. Generally the requests include an address and a note saying, "please send me stickers" but today I received hands down the most outragous sticker request EVER. It was so good that I wanted to share it with the millions of people that read our blog. Here it is:

Frankly, you have a SICK logo.I was wondering if I could get some free stickers for my car, or maybe a poster. Hey, if you want, you can even send me a small mammal. I'll take whatever you send. And I'll treasure it for always, and torment my friends with its sheer awesomeness. I really enjoy looking at your logo. It makes little colors appear out of my socks toes when I stare at it too long, and I find that very special. Please make my life more special! I beg of you! My favorite color will be determined by the color of the item you send. So please don't leave me without a favorite color. All my friends already have one, so I feel left out. Office Boys!

This past Thursday, Garett, Kevin, Paul, Tick and myself took part in the annual Office Boyz snowboard contest held at Grouse mountain. Office Boyz is a contest where us industry folk take the day off work and compete with one another to see who can eat the most food, drink the most coffee and still manage to throw themselves into the foggy abyss. Below is the fuzzy visual proof of the fantasticness that we threw down that day.

With all the excitement of the NHL playoffs starting tomorrow it seems some people have forgot about our beloved Vancouver Giants. They've played the equivalent of almost four games in their last two and now they're playing game 7 tonight at Pacific Coliseum.

Spokane are the 07-08 Memorial cup champs and Vancouver are the 06-07 champs.

Step into the Arena...

This Easter weekend our friend Kevin, proprietor of Boulevard Skate shop, hosted the first skateboard contest of the year in conjunction with Fourstar clothing. As you can see from the below photo, it was the perfect day for an Arena competition.

Upon arrival I was greeted by Mr. Kevin Kelly himself and put to work pasting stickers and hanging banners around the arena.

While we were doing that some of the local kids took part in a skate camp.

Now with all the sponsors logos visible it was time to "get the party started" as the spectators and competitors rolled into the arena. The contest format was simple Kevin would designate an obstacle active and award prizes, including cold hard cash, for those who threw down the most innovative and difficult maneuvers. Everyone who entered (and some that didn't) walked away with a prize.

After all was said and done and the cash and prizes were handed out we stuck around for a good old fashion skate session.

A big thanks goes out to Kevin Kelly, Boulevard Skate Shop, all the sponsors involved and everyone who showed up. I can't wait for the next contest.

cant believe the Flames blew a 13 point lead for the division. The curse of Bertuzzi lives.

Our playoff opponent are the St.Louis Blues. we have has some good playoff series against the blues and I think we have won them all. bring on the Blues..
